Today we’re going to be doing a fun little experiment
to show you what exactly happens to your roof
during a hail storm.
To help us demonstrate
that we have our hail cannon and we also have
our two inch hail.

So you can see here where our hailstone
hit our test board.
It almost kind of looks like
a bruise to the shingle. Right.
So what happens when it hits is it displaces
some of the granules in
that area, exposing the asphalt.
Once that asphalt is exposed to the UV rays, it’s
going to dry out over time.
Then exposing the fiberglass backing in that fiberglass
is going to act like a sponge
anytime it comes into contact with any moisture,
eventually working its way into your attic space
and into your home.
